The Ship of Fools by Hieronymus Bosch

Monks, nuns and peasants crowd into a little boat, singing, drinking and trying to bite a pancake hanging from a string. The mast is a living tree, and a fool sits drinking on a branch.

Bosch painted it around 1500 as a satire of greed and gluttony. It is a fragment of a larger work; another piece hangs at Yale.
