The Virgin Mary tells Saint Dominic to hand out rosaries to a crowd of poor people who reach up for them. Caravaggio painted it around 1607.

Later, Rubens and other Antwerp painters clubbed together to buy it for a church in their city. In 1781 the Austrian emperor bought it, and it went to Vienna.
