Circus Sideshow by Georges Seurat

At night, under gas lamps, a trombone player and other performers stand on a platform outside a circus tent, trying to draw in the crowd. The spectators wait in the foreground, seen from behind.

It was Georges Seurat’s first night scene, from 1887–88. The whole picture is made of tiny dots in muted purples and yellows.
